Soul Care Sunday: Don’t Settle for Dry Land.

Happy Sunday Loves! I am currently in the Book of Joshua and stopped in my tracks at Joshua 15:18-19. This is when Caleb’s daughter Achsah received her inheritance and the land was in a dry place called the Negev. Most people would have taken it, said thank you, and tried to make the best of it. But not Achsah, she looked around, recognized the dryness, and asked her father, “Give me a blessing. Since you have given me land in the Negev, give me also springs of water.” And he gave her both the upper and lower springs. As I read this, all I heard in my spirit was “don’t settle for dry land.”

Achsah’s story reminds me that just because we are living in an answered prayer, that doesn’t mean He is finished. There is still more territory! Yes, God has given us something but that doesn’t mean we have to settle for it as it is. Achsah didn’t complain but she knew her authority as Caleb’s daughter so she didn’t settle either. She saw that what she had could be fruitful if only it had water. Your Father is waiting for your bold ask.

That’s what real faith looks like. It believes that God doesn’t just want you to have something, He wants you to have everything. His will in totality. He wants you to have life and abundance in it.

This isn’t a prosperity message but maybe what you’re standing in right now feels a little dry. You are out of the wilderness and standing in the promised land but something is lacking. The business is good but not growing. You have the relationship or marriage but it feels stagnant or in a dry season. You prayed for healing for one thing but didn’t pray for total restoration. Or maybe, you are like me and have walked through so many storms that you are just content with where He has you and grateful for finally having peace.

Don’t be afraid to ask your Father for the springs.

You serve a God who doesn’t just give you land. He gives you life in it. He is a God of the overflow.

Let’s pray boldly: Lord, thank You for what You’ve already given me. But I won’t settle for dry land. I’m asking for the springs.

Love always,

Ashley
